The city of Lakeport’s efforts to annex an area along South Main street hit a snag yesterday when the Lake Local Agency Formation Commission determined that objections from property owners were sufficient enough to initiate a protest process. LAFCo voted to set a protest hearing on the annexation in about a month, with no firm date set as of yet. The protest process was precipitated by a written protest by business owner Justin Ratcliffe. LAFCo has received one additional written protest since Ratcliffe’s letter. The protest process is being followed in an abundance of caution, as advised by the counsel for the city of Lakeport.
