PG&E Says Repairs to Potter Valley Project Could Take Years

PG&E has announced that although the company plans on restoring the hydroelectric plant in Mendocino County to working order, the repairs could take years to complete. The timeframe is of concern since the plant diverts water from the Eel River to conduct electricity, the amount of water that flows into Lake Mendocino and the Russian River has been greatly reduced. Attempts have been made to take over the operation of the plant by a regional coalition of communities but that coalition has not been able to secure funding to do so.
