Lakeport City Council Considers How to Use $1.2 Million in COVID Relief Funds

Lakeport has been allocated $1.2 million in COVID State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds from the federal government, and yesterday, the City Council considered a list of projects that could be accomplished with those funds, which must be earmarked by the end of 2024. The four projects on a shortlist of those that fit into the funds most flexible category, revenue loss, include South Main Street, from First Street to Lakeport Boulevard; Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant restroom renovations to the Silveira Community Center, the planned recreation center; and water and sewer projects pulled from the city’s current rate study. After the discussion, the council voted to have staff present more detailed spending estimates for those projects at a future meeting.
