Rescue crews suspended the water search Tuesday after a vehicle plunged into the Eel River from State Route 162 near Mile Marker 10.8 at 11:26 a.m. due to hazardous conditions—high water and poor visibility. The CHP, Caltrans, Laytonville Fire Department, Cal Fire, and the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office will resume the search when safe.
