Robin Lane Sewage Spill Update

The Lake County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday increased the Robin Lane sewer spill disaster fund to $1.75 million, bringing the total county reserve to $3.25 million, as recovery costs for UV systems, testing, and water have already exceed $1.2 million. The spill contaminated the aquifer and private wells, affecting 164 homes. Residents cannot use well water as it stands and therefore will receive filtration systems, though immediate aid in the form of fresh water and laundry access ends Sunday. Response to the online aid portal is low, prompting the Undersheriff to call affected residents, as only 45 homes currently have water tanks. Total county costs surpass $1.1 million, despite conflicting spill volume data ranging from 3,900 gallons thought to have entered waterways to over 1.3 million gallons which is the estimated total spilled.
