The Redwood Valley Recreation Center, a volunteer group, proposes to lease and eventually buy the shuttered since 2010 Redwood Valley Elementary School from the Ukiah Unified School District for a youth center. UUSD has lowered its price to between $250,000–$500,000. The group’s latest offer is a $50,000 upfront payment and a $25,000 annual lease for two years to gain control for grants. The center is expected to reduce local youth drug and alcohol use. The group presents its proposal to the UUSD school board this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Ukiah.
