Clearlake Sewage Spill Update

Following the 2.9 million-gallon sewage spill on January 11, Lake County, at a public meeting, said it will provide whole-house well filtration (sediment, carbon, UV) for Robin Lane residents due to months-long groundwater contamination risk. The rupture affected 164 houses in a 550-acre advisory area. One hundred of the $1,800 units have been ordered; residents must apply online.  Hydrologist Dr. Annjanette Dodd warned the spill impacts a shallow aquifer, making shallow wells “particularly vulnerable,” and advised annual testing. Costs total at least $380,000. State aid was secured, but federal funding will require a federal disaster declaration to be made.
