Three weeks after Clearlake’s massive sewage spill, recovery efforts continue. The recovery command has expanded the impact area to nine zones, covering approximately 550 acres on Clearlake’s northern end, including new areas north of Burns Valley Road and north of Olympic Drive. Officials warn residents in the expanded area against using well water until groundwater testing has taken place. 394 samples from 151 sites have been completed. Twenty-five residential water tanks have been installed thusfar. For well testing, contact Lake County Environmental Health; for general information, contact the city of Clearlake.
