A weekend sewage spill has contaminated Burns Valley Creek, nearby private wells, and leaked into Clear Lake. Lake County Special Districts has issued a do not consume notice for well water to residents on Pond Road (northwest of Old Highway 53) up to Olympic, and along Rumsey (between Pamela and Smith). Residents affected by the incident should use bottled water; however, public water systems are safe. An emergency clean drinking water station is at Pond Road and Old Highway 53. Officials advise against recreating in Burns Creek and the impacted waters between Robin Lane/Pond and Pamela/Old Highway 53. Well testing is scheduled.
