Mendocino National Forest officials closed the Upper Lake Ranger District’s off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails as of Saturday, due to wet weather. Closures occur when 2 inches of rain fall in 24 hours or when the soil is saturated. This restricts motor vehicles on National Forest System trails when conditions pose a risk of soil loss, water quality impact, trail damage, or public safety concerns. Updates are posted on the forest’s website…fs.usda.gov/r05/mendocino/alerts and social media. Also, a reminder that Forest Service offices will be closed the 24th through the 26th for the federal holiday, though national forests and grasslands remain open.
