The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has extended the public comment deadline to Friday, Dec. 19 for PG&E’s plan to surrender the license and decommission the Potter Valley hydroelectric project. The two-year review of the project could lead to the removal of both dams and the elimination of Lake Pillsbury. Opponents, such as the County of Lake and the Lake Pillsbury Alliance, claim they were excluded from discussions and argue that losing Lake Pillsbury-a crucial firefighting water source-would harm the environment, economy, county property tax revenue, and fire suppression.
