Ukiah City Council Hears Progress Report on Palace Hotel

On Wednesday, the Ukiah City Council heard an update on the cleanup and proposed restoration of the New Palace Hotel from owner Tom Carter. Carter estimated the revitalization cost at around $20 million and projected a four- to five-year restoration, and another year for permits and funding, to restore historic features like the Otis Elevator. City Manager Sage Sangiacomo stressed the immediate need for completion of the building’s stabilization, which Carter reported as “very close” to being finished.
