Tribes Commit to Restoring Eel River After Potter Valley Decommissioning

Two Northern California tribes, the Round Valley Indian Tribes and the Yurok Tribe, signed a “Treaty of Friendship” last month, committing to jointly restore the Eel River and its fish populations. The agreement addresses the planned decommissioning of PG&E’s Potter Valley Project. According to the tribes, these dams have long damaged the Eel River ecosystem and blocked access to crucial fish habitat.
