Mendocino County District Attorney David Eyster has recused himself from the case against Matt LaFever, 37, a former Ukiah High journalism teacher and publisher of the defunct MendoFever news site. Eyster assigned the case to a senior attorney to avoid the appearance of a grudge, as LaFever’s site had been critical of him, and due to Eyster’s general distrust of local media.
