The CHP will conduct a 12-hour maximum enforcement period starting at 6 p.m. tomorrow night, to 6 a.m. Saturday morning. Commissioner Sean Duryee stressed the importance of sober rides for Halloween, noting impaired driving, which includes driving drunk, buzzed or on legal medications causes over 800 fatal crashes and 900 deaths annually in the state, and CHP officers also made nearly 120 DUI arrests during that period. If you see someone who appears to be driving impaired, call 9-1-1 immediately.
