Ukiah Approves New High Speed Internet Network

Ukiah’s City Council has unanimously approved a $3.3 million public-private partnership for a 23-mile city-owned high speed fiber optic network. Funded by a $5 million CPUC grant and a $1 million commitment from private partner Vero Fiber Networks LLC, the project must meet an October 28, 2026, deadline to avoid fund reclamation. The city anticipates $55,000 in annual internet savings and additional revenue from Vero’s subscriber fees. The network will connect 13 city facilities, pass 375 households, and offer service plans starting at $39.99/month.
