Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man suspected of attacking someone with a machete in Boonville last Monday. Investigators say the suspect entered a residence without warning and attacked the 74-year-old victim. The suspect then fled the scene. Ryan Stearns, a 43-year-old transient, was located in Comptche on Wednesday and booked into the Mendocino County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and elder abuse resulting in injury, all felonies, and is being held on $50,000 bond.
