Local Forestry Concerns Share in $72 Million In Grant Funding

CalFire has awarded almost $72 million in grants through its Forest Health Program. 12 local and regional partners received funding. In Lake County, the Clearlake Environmental Research Center received just over $4.6 million dollars. The funding will provide for fuels reduction, prescribed fire, pest management, and reforestation on 800 acres of very high fire-risk forestland. Another awardee in the region, the Northern Mendocino County Forest Health Collaborative, along with the Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc., will have funding to provide over 80 forestry jobs in the local community.
