Judge Says No Change of Venue in Cubbison Civil Trial

In Mendocino County Court, Judge Ann Moorman has rejected the request for a change of venue for Auditor Chamise Cubbison’s civil lawsuit against the County Board of Supervisors. A court filing by a San Francisco law firm stating that the trial had become contentious and that local public scrutiny raised questions about Moorman’s impartiality and that of other local judges had Moorman stating that there would be no venue change and that she expects the case to wrap up by the fall. The civil case brought by Cubbison is aimed at winning back 17 months of back pay and benefits from the county, and for damages to her professional reputation. The county has already spent more than a quarter of a million dollars trying to refute Cubbison’s claims.
