Ukiah Unified School District Loses Federal Funding for Mental Health in Schools

The Ukiah Unified School District has learned that it’s federal School-Based Mental Health Grant has been cancelled by the U.S. Department of Education under the Trump administration. The funding, which supports critical student support services, is scheduled to end December 31st of this year despite the fact that two and a half years remain on the grant as it was written and issued. The grant currently funds 10 mental health professionals charged with helping the district’s most at-risk students. The district is appealing the decision through all available state and federal channels.
