Two Illegal Marijuana Grows, Two Murders Connected to Them In Mendo County

Two cannabis related murders have occurred recently in the area. On the 15th, a landowner in Texas contacted the Mendocino County Sheriff regarding her property on Bell Springs Road in the Island Mountain area where Mendocino, Trinity, and Humboldt counties meet. She said she’d received information that a worker on her property was endangered or maybe even dead. After several hours of searching, an illegal marijuana grow was found, and later, the possible remains of that worker. Hours before that, on tribal land in the Hulls Valley area, another homicide was discovered at another illegal grow site, after a shots fired report was called in to the Sheriff. Several thousand plants were found, and three people appeared to have been shot, one fatally. Both incidents are being investigated. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about either incident to contact the dispatch center or leave it anonymously on the department’s tip line.
