Fort Bragg Completes Purchase of Mendocino Community Network

Fort Bragg has completed the purchase of the Mendocino Community Network for $300,000. City officials say the purchase will speed up the development of a mutual broadband utility aimed at delivering high-speed broadband service to the region. Both the Fort Bragg City Council and the Mendocino Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the acquisition. The city has already secured $10.3 million in grant funding from the California Public Utilities Commission to support the broadband project. By acquiring MCN, Fort Bragg gains an established local provider with decades of experience and strong community ties. Transition into the city’s broadband infrastructure will take anywhere from three to six months.
