A new study could help increase the water supply at Lake Mendocino. State, local, and tribal officials and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers met late last week to form a cost-sharing partnership for the Coyote Valley Dam General Investigation Study. The $3 million federally funded study will assess the prospects of greater water supply and potential federal interest in reducing flood risks. Lake Mendocino provides drinking water in Mendocino, Sonoma, and Marin counties and plays a role in flood control.
