CalTrans Asking for Help in Finding Culprit in Hazardous Waste Dumping

CalTrans is investigating and asking for the public’s help in identifying who might be dumping hazardous waste at multiple locations along the 101 in Mendocino County. In a press release, CalTrans estimates the cost of cleanup and disposal of 19 barrels near the Empire Rest area south of Leggett at $30,000. Some of those materials were just 10 feet away from a cliff that drops into a creek. The incidents have been ongoing since November. Anyone with information is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol
