Budget Cuts Hamper Redwood Empire Food Bank’s Mission

Budget cuts have hit the region’s largest hunger relief organization hard. The Redwood Empire Food Bank serves those in need across Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Sonoma counties. The Trump administration’s cost-cutting halted a shipment of 155,000 pounds of food earlier in the month and last week, food bank officials stopped all egg distribution as a cost-cutting measure. The food bank’s head of communications has said the cuts pose a huge obstacle to the organization, but it remains committed to providing for those in need.
