A 53-year-old Ukiah man’s body was found in the Russian River after a bystander who saw him tying a rope onto the Perkins Street Bridge called law enforcement. Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 800 block of Vichy Springs Road around 3:30 am on Monday to check on the man, but only found the rope tied to the bridge’s railing. Searches were initiated, and the body was found south of the Perkins Street Bridge around 10 am. Identification is being withheld until the next of kin is notified. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
