Ukiah BLM Office Targeted for Closure By DOGE

Rep. Jared Huffmannounced recently that the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, plans to close the Bureau of Land Management Field Office in Ukiah, as part of the Trump administration’s goal to decrease government spending. The Ukiah field office manages approximately 270,000 acres of land and 214,000 acres of mineral properties in Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Napa, Marin, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo counties and a portion of Mendocino County. Closing the office may impact a wide range of activities, including campground and trail management, wildfire prevention measures, and habitat conservation projects, among many others. The office is scheduled for closure by August 31st.
