The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Officer has been investigating allegations after woman posted on social media that her father had confessed to being a serial killer, taking victims in several states and around the North Coast area, including Lake and Mendocino Counties. TheLakeCountyNews reports that posts on Facebook by Galina Trefil allege that her father, 86-year-old Dr. Jon Charles Trefil, who is in failing health has been confessing that he started killing in the 1950s and continued to do so from 1965 to 1999, in Illinois, California, Virginia, Oregon, and Idaho as well as in Canada, France, the Netherlands, and along the Mexican border. The majority of those killings occurred in California in a number of counties including Lake and Mendocino. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has said it has and will continue to investigate crimes associated with these allegations when legally justified and supported by probable cause .
