Local Officials Express Concern Over New Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map

Cal Fire in its release of the new fire hazard severity zone map for “Local Responsibility Areas,” has added a total of 14,000 acres of Lake County land to the ‘very high’ fire hazard severity zone. The new designation has Lake County officials concerned when it comes to insurance rates. The new map has entered a 90-day public comment phase which ends May 13th. The Lake County Board of Supervisors, City Councils of Lakeport, and Clearlake will soon be scheduling public hearings on the map.
