Lake County Registrar of Voters Maria Valadez has clarified an exaggeration in the cost of adding Measure U, the vote on renaming the city of Kelseyville, to this past election’s ballot. When asked at a Lake County Board of Supervisors meeting how much putting the measure on the ballot would cost, Valadez estimated the cost to be no more than $50,000. That figure was used repeatedly in further discussion. She says the number was a rough estimate and should not have been quoted. Valadez says the actual cost of adding the measure to the ballot was less than $4,000.
