Public opinion continues to be split in the ongoing disagreement between the City of Fort Bragg and the Mendocino Railway or Skunk Train. At a meeting on Monday, discussion regarding whether to continue to try to reach an agreement with the railway or take them to court garnered a mix of opinions from City Council members and the community. In December, both sides agreed to a 90-day “timeout” that has since expired at the beginning of March. Staff presented a Development Strategy Report that recommended that the city continue with negotiations and extend the “timeout” for another six months until a non-binding memorandum of understanding can be reached.
