As the stabilization of the Palace Hotel in Ukiah continues, part of the old hotel are reappearing. More than 15,000 pounds of debris have been moved from the ground floor, revealing the old tile floors and an underground storage area used at one time to store liquor. The new owner/contractor, Tom Carter, says efforts to structurally shore up the oldest and most weakened section of the Palace are the current focus and they’re making progress, ending the threat of collapse of the most historic part of the hotel. Carter says they are going to get the building ready for investors and he knows they are out there.
