In Mendocino County Superior Court on Tuesday, Judge Ann Moorman dismissed the criminal case against embattled and suspended Mendocino County Auditor Chamise Cubbison and former Payroll Manager Paula June Kennedy, putting an end to a contentious and expensive prosecution. Cubbison’s criminal and civil attorneys said they would push for immediate reinstatement, with her civil attorneys stating they would vigorously pursue her lawsuit against the County Board of Supervisors for denying her due process. The potential for a significant civil damage award is high due to the judge dismissing the criminal case, adding to the cost of the two-year case, which has cost the taxpayers three to four times the $68,000 in disputed extra wages, which precipitated the criminal case.
