The Ukiah Valley Fire Authority was dispatched to a fire in the 2400 block of South State Street early Valentine’s Day. A fire in the family woodstove spread to the walls of the house. The stove’s chimney was found to be clogged, causing the fire. The family was displaced and the American Cross was called in to assist them. UVFA Battalion Chief Justin Buckingham reminds residents to have their chimneys cleaned regularly and also to be sure and have their address numbers visible from the street.
