After almost two years of standing her ground and refusing to concede the criminal allegations pointed at her, Mendocino County Auditor Chamise Cubbison quietly returned to her office on Wednesday. In her first public statement since the charges against her were dismissed by Judge Ann Moorman, Cubbison said she was looking forward to returning to the work she was elected to perform and was proud of her team for continuing to serve the county in her absence. Despite the return to her office, Cubbison’s attorney said her civil suit against the county and its board of supervisors will continue. Top county officials avoided comment on Cubbison’s return to work yesterday.
