The Noyo Bridge has become the focus of concern after a transgender teen who went missing in December was found at the base of the bridge. Since 2011, the Fort Bragg Police have responded to 15 people who may have intended to commit suicide from the bridge, with six of those people dying there. At a meeting of the Fort Bragg Public Safety Committee on Wednesday, Captain Thomas O’Neill concurred that a safety system needs to be installed on the bridge. CalTrans has said it will meet with local officials to discuss possible solutions.
