The Mendocino Sheriff’s Department has identified the man found in the water below the cliffs just south of Kasten Street on Tuesday as 65-year-old Douglas Shapiro. Injuries to his body were consistent with a fall down the cliff side. Foul play is not suspected and the exact cause of Shapiro’s death will be determined by a forensic pathologist. Next of kin has been notified and the investigation into the incident continues.
