The Mendocino Land Trust is in the process of purchasing a large segment of land that overlooks the Pacific Ocean along the Mendocino Coast. A $2.505 million grant from the State Coastal Conservancy and an additional $95,000 Project Advancement Grant” from the California Council of Land Trusts is being used to purchase Bell Point, 157 acres just south of Westport, which will be protected in perpetuity, and will be returned to Kai Poma, a nonprofit representing three local native tribes for long term ownership and management.
