The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced that the commercial Dungeness crab season from the Sonoma/Mendocino County line to the U.S./Mexico border will open on Sunday morning at 12:01 a.m. In contrast the season from the California-Oregon border to the Sonoma/Mendocino County line is now scheduled to open automatically on the 15th, with a 25 percent trap reduction in effect. Whales remaining in the area longer than usual is the reason for the delay.
