CalFire wants residents to know that fraudulent social media accounts asking for donations have begun to spring up in light of the L.A. fires. CalFire says it does not solicit donations either in person or online. Their social media accounts are verified with a blue or gray checkmark by their names and are listed as a government organization. If you don’t see that check mark, the account does not belong to CalFire. Government accounts will never ask for sensitive information through social media.
