Work has begun on shoring up the long-neglected Palace Hotel in Ukiah. The new owner, contractor Tom Carter says work to stabilize the weakest portion of the building is first priority and then he and his team will move through the complex in order to get the city imposed condemnation order lifted. A four story support tower will stabilize the interior floors of the building and provide support to the buildings brick exterior walls. Carter is still working with the city to determine the extent of the permitting process required to stabilize the whole structure.
