After a land purchase in October, the Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority along with the Donna M. Cooper Trust will soon begin work on the Inter-Tribal Elder Village, giving older Native Americans a place to live and celebrate their cultural heritages. The village is funded by the state’s Community Care Expansion Program, which awards gant to grow the number of facilities available to lower income older adults. The development, on just under 3 acres on Cooper Lane just outside of Ukiah will consist of 15 units designed to accommodate 30 older adults. A community center, garden, creekside overlook and open green space are planned. The village is expected to be finished in 2026 at a cost of around $14 million.
