State Route 1 was closed for several hours on Wednesday afternoon after a sand truck traveling to Westport overturned. The highway was covered with sand and the driver was trapped in the truck for over two hours. Rain hampered the rescue and cleanup efforts. The 1 was closed into the early evening hours.
