Major Quake Off Cape Mendocino On Thursday Felt In Arizona

A large quake was registered off Cape Mendocino at 10:44 am with a series of aftershocks Thursday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey said the 7.0 magnitude quake triggered ShakeAlerts and was felt in Oregon, Idaho and Arizona. At 10:49, a tsunami warning was issued for an area extending from 10 miles SW of Florence, Oregon to 10 miles NW of Santa Cruz. Beaches in the area of the quake were closed as a precaution. The warning was lifted about an hour after it was issued. A series of aftershocks has continued, ranging in magnitude from 2.7 to 4.3.
