Lakeport City Council Approves Tobacco Retailer Licensing, Meets Again Today

The Lakeport City Council approved a tobacco retailer licensing ordinance at its last meeting. Councilmember Kenny Parlet was the only dissenting vote. Lakeport is the latest community to join in the county’s efforts to prevent tobacco use, which look to restrict youth access to tobacco products and improve public health. The ordinance will go into effect at the beginning of the New Year. The council meets again this evening at 6 to certify the November 5th election and perform its reorganization as a result of the election, administering the oath of office to four elected individuals — Kim Costa, Brandon Disney, Kenny Parlet, and Christina Price — and seat the mayor and mayor pro tem for the coming year.
