Lake County Board of Supervisors Votes to Change Name Of Kelseyville

The Lake County Board of Supervisors in a 3-2 vote on Tuesday, passed a proposal to recommend to the U.S. Board of Geographical Nmaes to change the name of Kelseyville to Konocti, despite majority opposition to the change in a November advisory vote. Last year, it was proposed that the name of the city be changed due to the founder of the city’s abuse and murder of Pomo tribal members. TheLakeCountyNews reports nearly 40 public comments were made during the meeting, covering a range of arguments for and against the name change, with criticism of the county leadership and of putting the matter on the ballot in the first place.
