Mendocino County 4th District supervisor Dan Gjerde has resigned, effective today. As reported in TheMendocinoVoice, Gjerde didn’t run for reelection and was expected to finish his term at the end of December, with Fort Bragg Mayor Bernie Norvell taking over the seat after that. In a letter to the board, Gjerde said he’d accepted a position as a planner with Caltrans, which starts on the 12th. If all goes according to plan, Norvell would take over and the city council would decide whether to appoint someone to Norvell’s seat or wait for the results of the current election.
