The governor has signed a bill that will revise and strengthen the state’s Feather Alert, the notification system designed to notify the public when an Indigenous person goes missing. AB2348 would streamline the process of requesting and activating the alert, providing tribal governments with a direct pathway to communicate with the agencies involved, which will help get those alerts out more quickly.
