The City of Ukiah and personnel from the Historical Society of Mendocino County are working on drafting a Historic Preservation Ordinance. The ordinance would be the first ever for the city, and is meant to streamline the process of obtaining demolition permits and protect historic resources in the city. Although the process may take some time, Community Development Director Craig Schlatter said he and Alyssa Ballard of the Mendocino County Historical Society want to make sure they get it right.
