Boyles Fire Update

Containment on the Boyles Fire in Clearlake is at 40% at last report. Luckily, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. Lake County Fire was supported during the initial attack on Sunday by Cal Fire, Kelseyville Fire, Lakeport Fire, Northshore Fire, and Mendocino and Colusa counties, with engines coming from as far away as San Francisco. Monday night, Clearlake Police reported that the areas of the Lake County Superior Court, Walmart, and surrounding businesses had been downgraded to advisory evacuation status. Large areas of the city remain under mandatory evacuation, from 23rd Avenue South to Cache Creek Lane. Obsidian Middle School, Blue Heron School, and Lewis School will remain closed as the district continues to check for damage. Classes at Lower Lake High School, Lower Lake Elementary School, Carle High School, and Highlands Academy will resume today, Tuesday.
